Senator Benson Endorsed by Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association

The first and foremost duty of government is to protect the people. You can count on me to support the men and women of law enforcement who work to protect our lives everyday. We are blessed in Anoka, Sherburne, and Isanti Counties to have some amazing officers who's dedication to our community is invaluable. Recently, I was able to see this amazing work first hand by participating in a ride-along and jail tour with local peace officers. Additionally, I am proud to be endorsed by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) for the 2020 Senate District 31 election.

Senator Benson Ride-Along

Special thanks to the Anoka County Sheriff's Department for allowing me to experience a day in the life of an Anoka County Deputy. I rode along with Deputy Justin Miller who gave me the opportunity to join him for an afternoon and teach me about the important work he does. Video Link

Senator Benson tours Anoka County Jail

Recently, I toured the Anoka County Jail. The tour was eye opening as to the varied populations that have to go through our jails including people with mental illness, cognitive impairment and severe medical conditions. Thank you Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart for the time you spent with me reviewing operations and the challenges you face. I am always appreciative of the opportunity to learn from experts. The team at Anoka County are some of the best. Video Link
